New blog

I'm thinking of starting a new blog. As I am trying to organize the house and get rid of things, I wonder if either of our children want some of the things. So, soon, I will start a blog called "Up for Grabs." Then I can feel comfortable donating things that family doesn't want. How does that sound? Let me know your thoughts on the subject and I will get started on it. Sort of like Susan's clutter blog. Mom

Home again

Well, we got home late Saturday afternoon with mixed emotions. We would have liked to stay away a while longer, but had obligations at home. John had a doctor's appointment and I had work to do for the beginning of the sorority year. We are talking about taking off for a couple of weeks in late September or early October. John didn't get to do his gold mining in Georgia or diamond hunting in Alabama. We'll see. Mom

More from on the road

We are currently in the Hershey Pa area staying at a Thousand Trails campground that we have visited before. There is so much to see and do here that we extended our stay and will leave here on Friday. Tuesday we went to the Roots Farmers Market which is fantastic. You can find almost anything that you want and the produce, meats, and bakery items are great. We spend a couple of hours there and then came back to the motorhome. We forgot the Magellan when we left in the morning, so we traveled a lot of back roads finding our way back--should have left bread crumbs. Then we went back to Wal-mart because John had some prescriptions that need refills. Today we went to York and Hanover and visited the Harley-Davidson Factory and took the tour (see previous post) and then toured the Snyder's of Hanover factory (pretzels and potato chips). We were going to tour a chocolate factory, but they were closing so we found an Elks Lodge and spent a nice couple of hours visiting and had dinner and a couple of drinks. We will be here until Friday and then who knows? I do not always have the opportunity to get on line, but I'm not going to go back and try to catch up from this trip. Now I'm getting the hang of the blog, I'll try to do more postings. Mom

Trying to catch up

We've done a lot and seen a lot the last few weeks, but now we are rethinking our means of travel. What do you think?

Shad Landing Get together

We had a great time at Shad Landing with children, grandchildren, nieces, grand nieces, and nephew and various friends. We went to Public Landing near Snow Hill with the hopes of getting enough crabs to feed everyone, but only caught two so we went with hamburgers and hotdogs. It was really great seeing everyone and their friends. Those present were Boas, Tulls, Wysockis, Thorntons and their friends.

Okay, I'm still in the 20th century, but will try to catch up. Between email, facebook, blogs, I am completely comfused at times. Right now we (John and I) are in the motorhome in New Hampshire. We left home on July 2nd and have been in 10 states so far. We have visited family and friends--more on that later. We started in Interlachen, FL visiting John's cousin Sue and family for a 4th of July celebration at the lake. From there we went to Savannah so John and I could eat lunch at his new favorite place--Mrs Wilkes Boarding House. If you are ever in

Savannah, you must try this place out. The food is delicious, served family style and at least 24 different items on the table. All southern style, and of course very healthy (Not).

After Savannah, we drove to Charlotte and spent a couple of days with Jennifer. Then we went to a campground of Charlotte and met up with friends Marilyn and Marvin. We spent several days in the area going Emerald Mining, looking and finding the tribute to Dale Earnhart, eating Barbecue and just having fun. From Charlotte, we were on our way to the Eastern Shores of Maryland and Virginia to visit family.

Doctors and presciptions

Well, for the past two and a half weeks, we have spent most of our time visiting doctors and picking up prescriptions. John is up to 8 prescriptions now. He goes to see a vascular specialist on Tuesday, so we hope to know more than. He has seen his primary care doctor, and then another doctor in the same practice and the second doctor asked why he wasn't in the hospital--we wondered that, too. And then when he went to the specialist's office and then nurse took all his history, etc. she asked why he was not put in the hospital. John is losing confidence in his primary doctor. We'll see what the new doctor has to say on Tuesday.
